Umbraco Upgrading Service
We provide an upgrading service for any version of Umbraco. Whether you want to update your Umbraco to take advantage of new functionality or apply security updates, we can do it for you and take away the worry and stress of it. We have a few options, from a subscription service to one off fees.
Umbraco Upgrade Subscription
For a monthly fee of just £14.99 + VAT 1 we will upgrade you to the latest version (one major upgrade i.e. v17 to v182) and then keep you updated for a whole year. This includes all minor3 and patch releases and any security fixes. We aim to do security updates within 24 hrs and new releases within 14 days. With Umbraco now shipping two major releases a year, staying current matters more than ever. If you need to upgrade from an older version then please look at our one off fees.
One Off Umbraco Upgrades
We can upgrade you to the latest version of Umbraco or install a security update. We charge the following:

How do we upgrade an Umbraco website?
The upgrading service follows this procedure:
- You will need to provide us with your Umbraco website login details.
- We will advise you of any plugins that are currently incompatible and discuss this with you.
- We will make a full backup of your Umbraco website files and database.
- We will then restore the backup to create a cloned Umbraco website as your staging website.
- We will then upgrade the cloned website for you to verify. Although we can verify some of your website i.e. login and general page and extension errors, no one knows your website better than you. Each Umbraco installation is different, with any combination of paid for and custom extensions (packages, macros etc) installed. Sometimes these extensions are not compatible with the updated version.
- Once you have validated your website we will backup and upgrade the production website. You will then need to validate the upgraded live Umbraco website.

1 Paid yearly in advance. One major version change only i.e. v17 to v18. One website.
2 Umbraco 8 and earlier run on the legacy .NET Framework, so moving them to a modern version (v9 or later) is a migration rather than an in-place upgrade - contact us to discuss your options.
3 Minor upgrades require an additional MS SQL database, if you use that option, which may be extra depending on your plan.
