Hosting For Mac Users • Yes, It Just Works
On a Mac? Our hosting works for you
Here's the secret: "Windows hosting" and "Linux hosting" describe our servers, not your computer. Whatever you use - Mac, PC, iPad or phone - you manage everything in your web browser. Nothing to install, nothing to worry about.
Hosting from £5.27 /month · UK datacentres · UK support from real developers
The short version
Hosting companies name their plans after the server's operating system, which confuses everyone. Here's what actually matters.
Your Mac is fine
The server's operating system lives in our datacentre, not on your desk. Your computer never needs to match it - Mac users run Windows-hosted sites every day without noticing.
Everything is in the browser
Control panel, email setup, domains, SSL, billing - all managed through a normal web page. If Safari opens, you're equipped. Tablets and phones work just as well.
Pick by your website, not your computer
The only real choice is what your website is built with: WordPress and PHP sites live on our Linux servers, .NET and ASP.NET sites on our Windows servers.
So which plan do you need?
Answer one question - what's your website built with? - and you're done.
WordPress or WooCommerce
The answer for most people - blogs, business sites and online shops. WordPress comes pre-installed, with free SSL and daily backups.
A PHP site
Laravel, a custom PHP build, Joomla, Drupal and friends - our Linux plans run PHP 5 to 8 with MySQL.
A .NET or ASP.NET site
Sites on the Microsoft stack - .NET, ASP.NET, MS SQL, Umbraco, DNN. Our speciality, and yes, entirely Mac-friendly to manage.
Not sure what your site is built with? Use the chooser or send us your website address and we'll tell you.
Everything works from your Mac
A few examples of day-to-day jobs, all done from macOS without a Windows machine in sight.
Edit your website
WordPress's dashboard, Umbraco's back office and every other CMS run in Safari or Chrome. Developers can deploy from a Mac with FTP/SFTP, Git or Web Deploy-compatible tools.
Set up email on your devices
Standard IMAP means Apple Mail on your Mac, iPhone and iPad all connect in minutes - plus webmail from any browser when you're travelling.
Manage domains, SSL and backups
Renew domains, point DNS, add free Let's Encrypt SSL and check backups from our browser-based control panel. No software, no plugins, no Windows.
Get help from real developers
If anything's unclear, our UK support team are working web developers - plenty of them on Macs too. Tell us what you're trying to do and we'll sort it with you.
Mac users' questions, answered
Does Windows hosting work with a Mac?
Yes, completely. "Windows hosting" means your website runs on our Windows servers in a UK datacentre - it says nothing about the computer you use. You manage everything through your web browser, and Safari on a Mac works exactly like any other browser.
The same goes for Linux hosting: the name describes the server, not you.
Do I need any special software on my Mac?
No. Your hosting control panel, webmail, domain management and billing all run in the browser. If you build sites yourself, everything you'd expect works from a Mac too: FTP/SFTP clients such as Transmit, Cyberduck and FileZilla, Git, VS Code, and local WordPress tools.
Will my email work with Apple Mail and my iPhone?
Yes. Our mailboxes use standard IMAP and POP3, so they set up in Apple Mail on your Mac, and in Mail on iPhone and iPad, in a couple of minutes. There's webmail too, for when you're away from your own devices.
Which hosting should I pick as a Mac user?
The same one you'd pick on any computer - it depends on what your website is built with, not what you own. WordPress or WooCommerce? Choose WordPress hosting. A PHP site? Linux hosting. A .NET or ASP.NET site? Windows hosting. Still not sure? Our chooser walks you through it.
Can you move my existing site for me?
Yes, free within your first 14 days - and you don't need to do anything technical from your Mac at all. Buy the plan that fits, tell us where the site lives now, and our team handles the move. More about free migration.
